A Walk in the Park“Walk in the Park” is a new program sponsored by the Utah Dept. of Health and Utah State Parks. We want Utahns like you to be more active by taking advantage of outdoor walking and recreation opportunities available through the Utah State Parks. The "Walk in the Park" program is a 4-month competition beginning on June 7 (National Trails Day) and ending September 30. Rules state that you must be active in a state park, and you must log your mileage on utahwalks.org in order to be elegible to win a prize. Anyone, any age can participate. At the end of each month top walkers or hikers will be awarded prizes.
The health benefits of exercising outdoors, or “green exercise,” include reduced blood pressure and improved mood, among other things. Join us for a big kick-off event on Saturday, June 7, 11 a.m. at Wasatch Mountain State Park in Midway. You will have a opportunity to walk the brand new “Gold Medal Mile” trail from the visitor center to Huber Grove. Healthy snacks will be provided and T-shirts, visors and other items will be given away, just for walking the trail with us! Go to utahwalks.org for more information or www.stateparks.utah.gov
