Strength Training

Almost everyone can benefit from exercising their muscles, either at low levels (to promote health) or at higher levels (to increase muscle efficiency).

Women benefit from using light weights and routines which work to remove that extra body fat you have built up over the years.

Men, on the other hand, are likely to gain strength at the same time, which is achieved by using heavier weights and more specific exercises.

There are many ways to increase your physical size and strength depending on what you are hoping for. If you can't get to the gym, or can't afford a set of weights to use at home, try using an affordable stability ball. Stability balls can be used to improve balance, increase core strength, and provide variety to your workouts. For additional fat-burning, sit on it while watching TV - instead of the recliner or couch.

However, if you want to go in the direction of a traditional weight lifting program, keep these guidelines in mind.

  • If you simply want to lose excess body fat, use free weights, such as dumbbells, or perform non-weight exercises like sit-ups.
  • If you need to build muscle, you can use free weights with increased loads. You can also use a training apparatus, such as exercise bikes and multi-gyms.
  • Finally, if you want to make huge size and strength gains, then you will need expert coaching from a professional trainer and have access to professional gym equipment.

Remember: If you have not been active for a while, or suffer from any health problems, talk to your doctor before beginning a new exercise routine.
